Got Me Back on My Feet

-YM, Albuquerque

I had a few teachers in my life. My first teachers were my mom and dad. They always showed me right from wrong, and how to treat the people you love or respect. They also taught me how to love. I appreciate them a lot for that.

My other teachers have been my big brothers. My first big brother is my blood. We have the same mom. I’m not gonna say his name because he wouldn’t want me to, but he taught me how to be a man, he and my dad did. He taught me to stand up for what’s mine and how to move smart. He taught me a lot of valuable lessons I will never forget.

My other big brother is not blood but still a brother to me. He would do pretty much anything for me. He would always give me a place to stay and food on my plate. His ma is like a mother to me. He taught me how to get money and be smart.

I never listened to that last one, though. I always did what I had to do and didn’t care how I did it. If I needed something, he gave it to me. When I fell down, he got me back on my feet. My brother would ride for me no matter what and I will always remember all the things he did for me.
