A Surprise Trip

-L, Sacramento

When I was like ten, my whole family took a surprise trip to my family’s home town in Mississippi. My dad never told me or my little brother about the trip, we just woke up early one morning and we went to my auntie’s house.

Then, we got in a big van with the rest of my family and we started a long drive to my uncle’s house to pick up family, and even then my dad still didn’t tell us where we were going until we got to my uncle’s house.

After the long three hour and thirty minute drive to my uncle’s, my dad told us that we were leaving the state for the first time and then we left. Me and my little brother were very happy because we never got to go on any of the big family trips because my parents never really had the money.

The drive was a very long one, the longest I ever been on even still to this day. It was a very fun trip because we took extra time to stop for food and have fun with the family and stopped to take pictures just about everywhere.

When we finally got to Mississippi, I was nervous because at that time when I was younger I was a very shy little kid, so meeting all of them new people was a shock to me. But soon I became comfortable with all my family, I even got to meet my cousin that was in the NFL at the time and I got to play football on the field with him.

My uncle had this huge shed with a bunch of ATVs and four wheelers, and he let me and my brother drive them and also fish on the family private lake. But we did not get to fish for that long because it started to rain on us.

After that, we had our family reunion, then took the long drive home and on the way back we took a little longer drive so we could see more stuff on the drive.
