“A broken immigration system means broken families and broken lives.” -Jose Antonio Vargas
Yes, a broken immigration system does break families. If a woman’s husband is deported and they have children, she often has to work and cannot take care of her kids because she relies on her husband to provide for the family.
The immigration system fails to recognize that many of these families are hardworking and just trying to live right. They allow people with criminal backgrounds in but don’t give hardworking individuals a second chance. They also don’t seem to acknowledge that Hispanics work more in the fields than any other group.
The system should pay closer attention to whom they are deporting, as people struggle just to cross the border, with some even losing their lives walking through the hot desert. The system needs to take time to give people second chances because they don’t know if the people, they are deporting have families to support.
Most immigrants are Hispanic, and they are some of the hardest working individuals. We rely on them significantly, yet the system fails to notice their contributions.
