I am aware of my place, I put me where they could see
Those that hate me I helped plot on me
I was engaged in activities the opposite of preventing clashes
Between the cops and me
Ain’t no stoppin’ me was the prevailing thought
Until my unhealthy desires allowed me to get caught
An onslaught of valid charges and true accusations
Led to a barrage of guilty verdicts and consecutive terms of incarceration
My revelation, came when a man with a name I didn’t know
Ended my life with a sentence
Life
888 months to serve
Life threw me a curve
The sad truth
Like a bad tooth that man removed me from society’s mouth
My mother’s smile forever turned south
My childhood a burned house
I stand before you a misdirected go-getter
Desiring to live better
Critically aware of my situation
Emphatically I wear my designation
Human, a new man
With a desire to be what I was designed to be
Permanently aware of my place
On pace to fulfill my destiny.
