A Lil’ Part of My Life

by Kenny, San Mateo

Grew up in the city, man, that’s where I was born, went to school in the city from K through fifth grade. I went to Longfellow. I don’t really remember much or anyone, yet alone the teachers or anything, like that from back then so it’s hard to tell y’all about it.

But after fifth grade I moved to Daly City. I was mad though because it felt like I was leaving my whole life behind. I moved to a nice little three-bedroom apartment, better than my old house fo’ sure. Back then I was living in a trap frfr (for real for real). I guess my OG got a better job but it was out the way from the city and from where we were staying at so we moved to Daly City.

Anyway, I didn’t have a pops growing up. He was locked up way before I was born and did nine years, so I met him when I was about seven or eight. So it was just me and my mom and big brother and sister. But crazy thing my big brother just went down for murder, crazy huh. Hope he beats the case though.

Anyway we all moved to the little small apartment during the summer so I still had some time before I went to middle school so I tried to make the basketball team. Anyway it didn’t happen but anyway since I still had some time I tried learning how to skateboard and stuff like that. I would see all the older cool kids used to skate all the time, always doing tricks and flips.

I thought it was hell cool so I wanted to learn how to skate, so my mom went and got me a skateboard either from Ross or Target and that shhh was tight. I could barely ride it around, but I thought I was the coolest lad with that board.

But when sixth grade started I was kind of scared because I wouldn’t know anybody but I got dropped off by my mom and went to the office for my classes and I saw this kid already getting in trouble with the principal, and he would be a big part of my life.

Little did I know the kid that was getting in trouble would be my life-long best friend. Actually, my life-long brother, M. But I got my classes and was scared but had met two kids in my first period math class that I would know for the rest of my life. They showed me around the school, introduced me to their friends, and that one of their friends was MP and he also skated. I wish bruh would’ve continued skating and came up off it, but that’s life.

Anyway, I told him I just got a skateboard and he said he had got his took in the morning so that’s why he was in the office in the morning, lol. But he would hang out with all the older kids, he was a grade older than me and I would always hang out with them. Time goes by and I get introduced to my friend. He was the realest person I’ve ever met.
