Have you ever tried to run against the wind? It isn’t easy. Most of the time, it’s easier to just go with it and sail. Boats do it all the time, so do kites, flags and balloons. On the other hand, criminal behavior (CB) is like running against the wind. They officially call CB “anti-social” behavior, because it goes against the norms of larger society.
CB is like going against the wind. It is unnatural. Imagine if everyone was out there fighting, stabbing and shooting each other. Society would not last. We would all do one another in and humanity would disappear. Pro-social behavior is to do as the mainstream.
That doesn’t mean that being a harmless rebel is wrong. Club jackets, colorful hair, things that are different are a good thing. They start trends and allow us to express ourselves. Going with the wind is to follow the flow of traffic, to talk so people can understand us and walk on two feet like everyone else.
There are certain things we must do in society to grow and to prosper. We must work with others to accomplish positive things. That is the secret to the survival of society. Everyone does their part. Even when we don’t know one another, if everyone does their part, it comes together.
We’re not robots, so everyone has their own styles and ways of doing things. Being creative is part of a healthy society and being creative, or different, is not anti-social. Anti-social is breaking laws. That is what CB is. That’s what isn’t cool. That’s the difference. When you stop and think about it, CB is backwards. That’s why they call it anti-social behavior.
CB goes against everything mainstream because it harms society. Criminal acts hurt others. CB is running against the wind. CB is a backwards lifestyle because we know it either end us up in prison or dead. People, normal people, don’t live to die or purposely end up in prison.
It doesn’t make sense. Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t plan on coming to prison with a sentence of life without the possibility of parole. But considering all the laws I was breaking what else would I expect?
Mainstream Americans do everything in their power to avoid Both prison and death. That’s what’s up. But not people who do CB. It’s retarded. Imagine driving against the flow of traffic or trying to speak another language (and be understood) to people who only know English. Imagine walking on our hands while everyone else walks on their feet.
We wouldn’t dream of going out this way. It would be absurd! Likewise do pro-social people, people of the mainstream (which is most people, by the way) see people who live a lifestyle of CB as being absurd. I didn’t’ get it before, but I sure get it now. I’m no longer running against the wind. How about you?
